The Jackson State University was scheduled to have its first two-a-day practices of fall camp, but lightning strikes around the alternate practice field, which were seen around 4:30 p.m., and a down pour forced the Tigers to cut the evening practice short after approximately 20 minutes.

Head coach Harold Jackson plans to make up the loss of practice time by hitting the field at 8:30 Monday morning. However, he was pleased with the morning session. The Tigers went full pads, but the Morning session saw a bit of sluggishness.

“I didn’t like morning practice either,” said Jackson. “But after a while the body warms up and you start to move around better.”

JSU will follow Monday’s morning practice with its regular 3:45 p.m. practice.

Observations:

Freshman wide receivers Romelo Shumake and Desmond Hill made some good plays Sunday morning. Junior wide receiver Devin Fosselman sat out of the morning practice but was able to run routes in the shortened afternoon session.
