JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State University Blue Bengal Athletic Association (BBAA) presented a $100,000 check to the Division of Athletics during its annual Awards Program, held Sunday July 13 at the JSU Sports Hall of Fame room located in the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on the JSU campus.

Nedra Brown, JSU’s Associate AD/Senior Woman Administrator accepted the gift on behalf of the university.

"We appreciate all contributions made to the Division of Athletics by the Blue Bengals no matter how large or small," Brown said.

The organization also presented awards to the JSU football, soccer, baseball and softball programs for the outstanding season each program had during the 2013-14 academic year. The football team won a second straight SWAC Eastern Division title. The softball team also won a SWAC Eastern Division championship, while the soccer team won the 2013 league championship. The baseball team won its second straight championship and earned back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament.

The BBAA will also sponsor the 2014 SWAC Kick-Off Party (Friday, August 22 at the Mississippi Museum of Art located at 380 South Lamar Street, Jackson, Miss. 39201, 8 p.m. – midnight, admission is $10). The event is open to the public and food will be provided. The BBAA is a non-profit organization existing to enhance, enrich and insure the continuous growth of Jackson State University athletic programs, both men’s and women’s in accordance and compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. The BBAA operates solely on revenues generated through membership subscriptions and fund-raising activities. All contributions to the BBAA are tax deductible.
