NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 1 seeded Jackson State women’s tennis team fell 4-1 to the No. 2 seeded Southern University curing the 2014 SWAC Women’s Tennis Championship Sunday afternoon at City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center.

Despite falling in the conference title game, the Lady Tigers will represent the SWAC in the NCAA Regionals, due to Southern's APR issues. The women’s tennis first and second rounds are scheduled to start May 9. The entire field will be announced on April 29 on NCAA.com at 4:30 p.m. (CT).

The Lady Tigers picked up their only win of the match at No. 6 singles when Kessica Jayapalan beat Camera Davis 6-4, 6-1. Julia Angermann and Ana Zviahintseve were both named to the 2014 SWAC All-Tournament team.
