JACKSON, Miss. – Despite a game-high 20 points from Julysses Nobles, the Jackson State men’s basketball team fell 68-63 to the Southern Jaguars Monday night at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

With two seconds left in the game, Nobles hit a three-pointer to cut SU’s lead to 66-63. After being fouled by JB Brent, Malcolm Miller made two big free throws to preserve the win for the Jags.

JSU falls to an 8-15, 4-7 record with this loss, and Southern improves to a SWAC best 14-10, 10-1 record.

Derrell Taylor added 14 points and four rebounds for JSU and BJ West recorded a double-double as he finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. He also had a game-high three blocked shots, a steal and an assist.

Calvin Godfrey, Yondarius Johnson and Tre Lynch each scored 15 points.

JSU trailed 31-22 at halftime.

The Tigers return to action Feb. 15 when they travel to Prairie View, Texas to take on the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
