Lady Tigers Second Half Surge Help Defeat Devilettes

GREENWOOD, Miss. - Junior Ayanna Hardy-Fuller's fourth double-double on the season, helps lift the Jackson State University Women's basketball team past in-state rival Mississippi Valley State University, 63-56 Saturday at the Leflore County Civic Center. Hardy-Fuller finished with 16 points and eleven rebounds to lead JSU.

With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 7-11 overall and 5-3 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Jackson State struggled shooting from the field (33.3 percent) and from the line (60 percent) while being down by a margin of two (26-24) at the half. 

After the half, the Lady Tigers picked it up, shooting 37 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the arch, and 88.9 percent from the line down the stretch. 

Junior Ke'ra St. John added 16 points and three boards to the victory, while senior Ekwara Ndongo registered 13 points and six boards to round out the double-digit scoring for Jackson State.

Olivia Kennedy led the Devilettes with 15 points offensively.  Joncyee Sanders recorded eleven points and six rebounds, while sister Jasmyne Sanders tallied 10 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Pine-Bluff, Ark., to face the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff Monday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m.
