BATON ROUGE, La. – The Jackson State University women’s basketball team fell 69-59 to Southern University Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at F.G. Clark Activity Center.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers stand at 5-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
The contest featured three ties and two lead changes before the Lady Jaguars took over and never looked back. Jackson State shot 32.4 percent from the field, 30 percent from behind the arch, and 52.2 percent from the stripe.
Senior Ekwara Ndongo led JSU with 14 points while junior Ke’ra St. John recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 boards.
Jasmine Jefferson led the Lady Jags in scoring and rebounding. The Miami, Fla., native scored 17 points and tallied nine rebounds. Yasmin Fuller added 13 points to round out the double-digit scoring for both teams.
The Lady Tigers host Prairie View A&M University Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
