BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference awarded Jackson State University's junior guard, Dominique Brothern with this week's SWAC Women's Basketball honors on December 9.

Brothern, a Jackson, Miss. native, tallied 12 points, four steals, two assists and two rebounds in JSU’s 71-52 drop to Northwestern State on Monday. She then went on to lead JSU to its second win on the season and only victory on the week. She scored a game high 14 points to carry the Lady Tigers to a 70-53 triumph over New Orleans on Thursday, December 4th.

Brothern tallied a team high 33 minutes of play in the match, finishing with four steals, three assists and one rebound. She shot 66 percent from the field (6-of-9) and from three point range (2-of-3) in the win. 

Within the first two minutes of the game, Brothern put up an assist to rally the Lady Tigers to a 4-0 lead early on. Scoring back to back three’s after the 10:42 minute mark, Brother helped JSU lock in the lead for good. With just 12 seconds left in the half, Brothern posted a layup to bring the score to 39-17 going into the break. In the half, she tacked on an additional four points and earned four more in the second set of minutes.

Brothern currently holds the highest three point field goal percentage in the conference as well as on her team (.471) and has recorded a team best 17 steals for the Lady Tigers while receiving her first award on the season.
