Game Notes

* The game marks the official home debut of head coach Wayne Brent. Brent was named as JSU’s head men’s basketball coach on March 25.

* Brent took over the head coaching job at Jackson State following a highly successful career in the high school ranks. Brent is known as one of the best developers of talent in the Jackson area.

* The Tigers finished the 2012-13 season with an 11-18 overall record and a 9-9 conference mark. JSU finished as the No. 2 seed in the SWAC tournament. After beating Alabama State in the quarter finals, the Tigers lost to Prairie View A&M (88-75) in the semifinals.

* Brent’s roster has only two players that saw action from last year’s team (Derrell Taylor and Jeff Stubbs). Taylor is the only returning starter from that team.

* JSU has 12 newcomers on roster this season. The slate of newcomers are highlighted by Jackson high school standouts like Marcus Love (Murrah HS), Dontaveon Robinson (Provine HS), Javares Brent (Provine HS) and Treshawn Bolden (Callaway HS).

*JSU has a 2-7 series record against Arkansas State.

*Head coach Wayne Brent has established a new student section for men's home games called "Brent's Bunch".
