Soccer Falls 2-1 to Alabama State

JACKSON- The Jackson State University women's soccer team was defeated by the Lady Hornets of Alabama State University on Sunday, Oct. 13.

The first goal of the game was scored by Samantha Burno of ASU at 28:27 with an assist from Aaliyah Lewis. The second goal of the game was scored by Lewis of ASU with an assist from Alexandria Cannon at 49:30.

The Lady Tigers attempted a comeback and Rayana Speight scored JSU’s only goal at 58:23.

Although the Lady Tigers lost the game, they were able to out shoot the Hornets. JSU had 15 shots to the Hornet’s 9. Goalie Taylor Emerson also saved at total of 5 goals during the match.

The Lady Tigers will look to pick up a win against Southern University when they travel to Baton Rouge, La. on Friday, Oct. 18. The game will be played at the A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University at 5 p.m.
