JACKSON- The Lady Tigers will travel to Alabama this weekend to take on Alabama A&M and Alabama State University.

The first game will be against the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. This will be the Lady Tigers first divisional soccer game.

In the SWAC Eastern division, Alabama A&M is 0-0-2 and 0-11-2 overall. The Lady Bulldogs are lead by freshman forward Estella Esperance who has captured the title of SWAC Offensive player of the week twice and scored 5 out of the 7 goals made by Alabama A&M.

The second game will be played against the Lady Hornets of Alabama State on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. In the SWAC Eastern Division, Alabama State is currently 2-0, defeating both Mississippi Valley State University and Alcorn State University, and 7-6 overall. The Lady Hornets are lead by freshman forward Aaliyah Lewis who has taken the SWAC Offensive Player of the week title three times. She is also ASU’s lead scorer, making 12 out of the 36 goals.

The Lady Tigers of JSU are currently 0-0 in the SWAC Eastern Division and 2-8-1 overall. They are lead by freshman defender Elexis Rice who was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week twice and scored 3 out of the 11 goals made by JSU this season. Other stands out players are senior Patricia Cartwright, named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week once and College Sports Madness SWAC Player of the Week, and junior Kimberlie Hernandez also named College Sports Madness SWAC Player of the Week.

This will be a tough road trip for the Lady Tigers. They are playing 2 tough teams. “We have to focus on each game as it comes,” said head coach Dean Joseph. “We have to make sure that we commit numbers at the right time… and make sure we play high percentage ball.”

The game against Alabama A&M will be played at the Bulldog Soccer field on the campus of Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala. and the game against Alabama State will be played at the ASU Soccer Complex on the campus of ASU in Montgomery, Ala.
