JACKSON- The Lady Tigers of Jackson State University soccer team will host Prairie View A&M University in the first conference game of the season on Friday, Oct. 4.

The Lady Tigers 1-7-1 overall and 0-0 in conference hope to gain their second win of the season and their first conference win against the Lady Panthers who are 1-7-0 overall.

The Prairie View soccer team is lead by Celene Batrez who scored three of the seven goals scored by the Lady Panthers this season. During the preseason, PVAM was predicted to finish first in the SWAC Western Division and defender Debbie Arquellos was voted All-SWAC Team.

The Lady Tigers have scored nine goals this season but there has not been a scoring leader. Several different players have contributed to the JSU goals this season. Coming off a win over Millsaps College, the Lady Tigers gained SWAC weekly honors. Senior Patricia Cartwright was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Elexis Cartwright was named SWAC Defensive player of the week.

“If we just stick with the system, we will be successful,” said Head Coach Dean Joseph.

The game will start at 3 p.m. at the JSU Soccer complex. Come out and support your Lady Tigers or Watch Live.
