JSU Travels to Compete in Sam Houston State Invitational

Hitting the road again, the Jackson State University volleyball team is set for the Sam Houston Invitational in Huntsville, Texas, beginning Friday.

The Tigers will play Washington State University (7-0) Friday at 4 p.m. in the Johnson Coliseum followed by a double header on Saturday against host team Sam Houston State University (2-5) at 1 p.m. and Lamar (1-8) at 4 p.m.

JSU (1-7) has competed in two tournaments so far this season, coming out of them with a lone victory on the season over the University of Louisiana-Monroe, 3-2. The Lone Star road trip will also be a homecoming for seven Tigers as Karmen Jackson, Keirsten Howard, Paige Williams, Tayler Whittington, Angelica Kelley, Kennedy Banks, Briana Hopkins, and Alexsis Ford all hail from the state of Texas.

Jackson State hits the road after coming off a loss to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday evening. The team on the road this year has compiled 203 kills; while adding 188 assists, offensively. They have registered 284 digs; while tallying 12 solo blocks and 79 block assists.
