Volleyball Overwhelmed by UL-Lafayette

Despite having a record attendance with 500 fans, the Jackson State University volleyball team was overwhelmed by the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Tuesday evening in its home opener 3-0 (11-25, 17-25, 16-25) in the T.B. Ellis Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers (1-7) struggled in the first set being out attacked 10-6. Freshman outside hitter led the charge for JSU with six kills; while sophomore setter Jenna Siddiqui added 15 assists, offensively. Defensively, the Jackson State was led by freshman Karmen Jackson, who recorded seven digs.

The Rajin’ Cajuns were led by the powerful attack of Kaylee Nemeth. She registered 12 kills; while Andrea hole tallied 29 assists.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Huntsville, Texas to compete in the Sam Houston Tournament beginning on Friday, September 13 against Washington State University at 4 p.m.
