Softball falls 11-2 to Alabama State, Eliminated from SWAC Tourney

DECATUR, Ala. – The Jackson State softball team’s run for a second Southwestern Athletic Conference championship ended Friday evening at Wilson Morgan Park. The Lady Tigers fell 11-2 to the Alabama State Lady Hornets and were eliminated from the tournament. With the loss JSU ends the season with a 28-29 record.

The ASU Lady Hornets allowed only one JSU hit, while recording nine hits of their own. Canessa Swanson got JSU’s only hit of the game.

Jasmine Warren suffered the loss. She pitched 2.2 innings and allowed seven runs on five hits.

Alabama State scored two runs in the first inning, five in the third and four in the fifth inning. JSU’s only runs of the game came in the fifth when Swanson and Warren scored.
