Baseball falls 5-1 to Grambling

GRAMBLING, La. – The Jackson State baseball team lost its second straight game, falling 5-1 to the Grambling State Tigers Wednesday evening at Wilbert Ellis Field. With the loss JSU falls to a 27-20 record while Grambling improves to 18-30.

Chris Wingard (1-4) got the loss for JSU. In five innings of work he allowed three runs on five hits. JSU finished the game with three hits and three errors. GSU scored its five runs on eight hits and also had three errors.

GSU scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning. The G-Men added another run in the fifth to increase the lead to 3-0. The JSU Tigers scored their only run in the eighth inning when Nick Marigny came home on an Aneko Knowles triple.

Grambling State scored two runs at the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 5-1.

Knowles, Bryce Taylor and Charles Tillery each recorded a hit for JSU. The Tigers return to action Saturday, May 11 for a three-game series against non-conference foe Florida A&M.
