Tigers and Lady Tigers Tennis fall on Day 2 of SWAC Tournament

NEW ORLEANS – The Jackson State men’s and women’s tennis teams were both eliminated on day two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament on Saturday.

The No. 3 Lady Tigers were eliminated by No. 2 Alcorn State. JSU fell 4-1 to the Lady Braves. Alcorn State swept JSU in doubles action. Kesica Jayalapan and Harshini Reddy lost 8-6 to Kersten Vanem and Viktoria Kozachuk at the No.1 position. Rebekah Adewumi and Laura Rojas fell 8-2 to Merlin Tipp and Kate Potapova at No. 3.

Jayalapan secured JSU’s only singles win as she defeated Potapova at No. 4 singles.

In men’s action, the Alcorn State Braves defeated the Tigers 4-0. ASU swept JSU in singles action. The Tigers picked up a win in doubles action when Jose Luque and Ernesto Morales beat Max Tkachenko and Bhavtaran Singh 8-3.
