LORMAN, Miss. – The Jackson State softball team swept the Alcorn State Lady Braves with a 4-1 victory Sunday afternoon at the ASU Softball Complex. With the win JSU improves to 22-22, 9-1 record to stay atop the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division.
The game was played pretty evenly, except in the win-loss column. ASU had four hits and JSU finished with five. The Lady Braves had one RBI and JSU had two. Jasmine Warren (8-4) pitched five innings to pick up the win. She allowed three hits and struck out a game high three batters. Warren also led the JSU offense, with a hit and two RBI. Tayler Nave and Amanda Vasquez each went 1-3 at the plate and scored a run.
JSU scored the first run of the game in the first inning and added two in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. Each team scored a run in the sixth.
JSU returns to action April 9 when the Lady Tigers travel to Houston, Texas to take on the University of Houston in non-conference action. The Lady Tigers will then take on Houston Baptist on April 10 for a double-header.
