Lady Tigers split with Cleveland State

 Jackson, MS-In Thursday's action against Cleveland State, Jackson State split the afternoon doubleheader winning 2-1 and falling 8-6 in an 8-inning decision. 

With three scoreless innings in game one, Jackson State's Tayler Nave drove in two runs off a double. 

The Tigers' outfield provided solid footing throughout the contest as the Vikings were held scoreless much of the game.

 In the top of the seventh, Cleveland State's Woodard homered to give the team their lone run of the game as the Lady Tigers held on to win their eighth game of the season. 

Breea Jamerson picked up the win for Jackson State.

In Game 2, the Vikings came out more aggressive as McNew homered in the first inning scoring Phillips.  The Lady Tigers picked up three runs in the bottom of the first as Amanda Vasquez double scored Canessa Swanson and Jasmine Warren.  Right fielder Tayler Nave's single drove home Vasquez. 

The second inning and third inning proved to be beneficial for the Vikings as home runs were scored in both innings.  The Lady Tigers' Swanson RBI single scored Jasmine Warren in the home half of the second. 

Jackson State tied the game up with 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth as Lauren Aikens and Tayler Nave scored runs.  With neither team scoring in the final innings of the game, an extra inning was forced.

Cleveland State's Toman homered scoring McNew and captured an 8-6 lead over the Lady Tigers.  Jackson State could not answer back in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Cleveland State.

Radjen picked up the win for Cleveland State while Jamerson recorded the loss.
