GARLAND, Texas - The Jackson State women's basketball team fell 66-60 to the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers in the quarterfinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday evening at the Curtis Culwell Center. With the loss JSU falls to a 12-16 record and Prairie View improves to 15-14.
After trailing by 25 points with 13:28 remaining in the second half, JSU trimmed the PVAM lead down to two points (62-60) with 22 seconds left in the game. PVAM made its free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.
Beatrice Banks and Ayanna Hardy-Fuller combined to scored 30 points for JSU. Banks scored 16 points on 4-7 shooting from three-point range and Hardy-Fuller added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Tiffany Kellum recorded 7 points and 13 rebounds and Bridget Robinson finished with seven points.
Gabrielle Scott led PVAM with 17 points on 7-10 shooting. Kiara Etienne followed with 16 points and Latia Williams chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds.
JSU trialed 37-26 at half time.
