JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State University will host a new Nike Tennis Camp this summer. JSU head men's and women's tennis coach Scott Pennington will direct the camp. He brings over 27 years of tennis teaching/coaching experience from his head professional experiences at nationally recognized programs in Washington, D.C., Hilton Head, SC, Savannah, GA and Jackson, MS. He has been Director of Grand Slam Tennis Camps, a successful summer/holiday tennis camps for kids since 2003.
This summer Scott is offering two weeks of camp with Overnight (ages 12+ only), Day (8:30am-4:30pm) and Half Day (8:30am-11:30am) camp options for boys and girls of all abilities. Both sessions will have an All Skills program geared towards beginner-advanced players ages 9-18 as well as a 10 and Under Tennis program (Half Day Camp) for children ages 9-10, featuring the USTA's successful new teaching format.
During the first week of camp there will also be a Tournament Training program geared towards tournament level and ranked players looking to improve their tournament results, learn winning strategies, and work on mental toughness. Also, the second session has a High School program, provided for players ages 13-18 currently on their high school team and wanting to move up the ladder or those planning on making the high school team.
