Softball beats William Carey 5-3

JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State softball team improved to a 6-16 record by beating William Carey 5-3 at Tuesday night at the JSU Softball Complex.

Breea Jamerson (5-11) pitched seven innings to pick up the win. She allowed three runs on four hits while striking out four batters. Alli McCaleb suffered the loss for William Carey. The JSU Lady Tigers recorded seven hits.

Amanda Vasquez led JSU’s offense as she recorded two hits, a run and three RBI.

Hannah Cook-Kelly led William Carey with a hit, a run and two RBI.

Jackson State led 2-0 through five innings. William Carey claimed the lead with a three run sixth inning. JSU tied the game at the bottom of the sixth with a run and closed out the game in the seventh inning with two runs.

Jackson State returns to action Wednesday, Mar. 6 when the Lady Tigers travel to Hammond, LA to face SE Louisiana in a non-conference double header. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
