CONWAY, Ark. - The Jackson State baseball team fell to a 2-3 record Friday evening, falling 19-4 to the Central Arkansas Bears at Bear Stadium.
Brandon Gregory (1-1) suffered the loss for JSU. In three innings of work he gave up six runs on seven hits, while striking out three batters. Caleb McClanahan (2-0) pitched seven innings to pick up the win. He allowed four runs on six hits, while striking out seven.
Gary Thomas led JSU offensive efforts recording four hits and two runs. Charles Tilery had two hits and Fred Hampton finished with a hit and two RBI.
Forrestt Allday led UCA with five hits and three runs.
JSU put the firs runs on the scoreboard, scoring two in the third inning. At the bottom of the third Central Arkansas took the lead, scoring four runs. The Bears added six more runs in the fourth and another six in the seventh. JSU scored two runs in the seventh and UCA scored the final three runs of the game in the eighth.
JSU returns to action Sunday to face UCA at 1 p.m.
