JACKSON, MS - The Jackson State bowling team tied for third place at the 2013 SWAC Bowling East Roundup held at Fannin Lanes.
JSU recorded a 25191 total pin fall en route to a 15-9, 4-4 record. Dyanna Scott was the standout of the weekend as she was the individual total pins leader (5613) and the high average leader (200.5). She was named the conference bowler of the year and was an all conference selection.
In Friday's action the Lady Tigers opened the roundup on fire. JSU beat Grambling 808-741 to open the tournament. In round two JSU defeated Texas Southern 905-852 and Prairie View A&M 989-900 in round three. JSU broke 1000 in a 1040 -999 victory over Alabama A&M in round four. In round five JSU won via no contest.
The Lady Tigers opened Saturday's action with a 964-929 victory over Southern, but fell in round two to Alabama State 972-913. JSU dominated Grambling in round three (967-773) and dismissed Texas Southern 1030-944 in round four. JSU beat Prairie View A&M 1034-1008 to close out Saturday's action.
JSU's fortunes turned on Sunday. The Lady Tigers fell 1030-919 to Alabama A&M in round one action. JSU won round two via no contest but fell 933-881 to Southern in round three. JSU closed the day in strong fashion by beating Alabama State 913-835.
