NASHVILLE, TN - The Jackson State women's track and field team had an outstanding day during the Tennessee State Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Tigers started the day with personal bests in the weight throw. Hannah Porter finished sixth with a toss of 42'8" and Brionna Epes finished seventh with a distance of 42'0". Sharonda Bryant finished second and finished with a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 43'11.25".
Akila Craig recorded a personal best in the 55 meter dash, finishing in third place, with a time of 7.20. Cameia Alexander finished ninth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.39 (personal best). Approximately 10 minutes later she recorded a personal best in the 400 meter dash with a time of 101.69. She tied for 18th place with her teammate Munirat Balagun. A'Kendra Lewis finished 16th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.25.
Terisha Julius had an all around good day for the Lady Tigers. She finished eighth in the 55 meter hurdles (8.67) and in the long jump (17'7"), both were personal bests. Krissle Nicome finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.21.
JSU will return to action Feb. 16 to participate in the SWAC Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL.
