JSU Hoops returns to action Saturday against Alcorn State

The Lady Tigers (7-11, 4-5) will look to extend their winning streak to a season high four-games. JSU picked up its third straight win by blowing out Arkansas Pine Bluff 70-69. Tiffany Kellum scored a team high 14 points on 4-9 shooting. Beatrice Banks followed with 11 points. 

The Alcorn State Lady Braves (1-17, 1-8) is currently on a five game losing streak. In their last game, the Lady Braves fell 64-53 to Southern. Carolinsia Crumbly leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and rebounding (5.9 rpg). Tierro Frost averages 11.2 ppg and 2.9 rpg.

The Lady Tigers will look to secure the regular season sweep against Alcorn on Saturday. JSU won the first meeting of the season 59-56 at the Lee E. Williams AAC on Jan. 6. Tiffany Kellum leads JSU in scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounds (8.1 rpg)

The Tigers (4-14, 3-6) looks to avenge the Jan. 6 loss to Alcorn State and extend its winning streak to four games against the Braves on Saturday. In their last game, the Tigers beat Arkansas Pine Bluff 82-67 behinds a 27 point outburst from Christian Williams. He went 9-18 from the field and 7-13 from three-point range.

Dundrecous Nelson came off the bench to chip in 16 points on 3-9 shooting from the field. Derrell Taylor pulled down a team high eight rebounds.

Alcorn State comes into the game with an 8-16, 6-3 record. The Braves are coming off a 61-57 home win over Southern. LeAntwan Luckett led ASU with a 27 point effort as well. The Braves have three double-digit scorers. Marquiz Baker leads the team in scoring with 18.1 ppg. Luckett averages 13 ppg and 4.0 rpg. Anthony Nieves averages 12 ppg.

After facing Alcorn State the Tigers and Lady Tigers will head to Baton Rouge, LA to face Southern in SWAC action.
