LUBBOCK, Texas - Despite a game-high 22 point effort from senior guard Christian Williams the Jackson State men's basketball team fell 84-75 to the Texas Tech Red Raiders Monday night at the United Spirit Arena.
Williams went 7-19 from the field, including 6-14 from three-point range, and recorded a team high five steals for Jackson State. Two other Tigers also scored in double figures. Derrell Taylor added 18 points and eight rebounds and Kelsey Howard followed with 15 points and six rebounds. Willie Readus chipped in eight points and 15 rebounds.
Four Red Raiders scored in double-figures. Jaye Crockett came off the bench to score a team high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds. Dejan Kravic followed with 16 points and eight rebounds. Jos Gray and Jamal Williams each scored 12 points.
The Tigers led 33-30 at halftime. Texas Tech outscored JSU 54-42 in the second half. The score was tied twice and the game had three lead changes.
JSU will return to action Nov. 28 when the Tigers travel Air Force Academy, CO. Tip-off is set for7 pm.
