The Jackson State men's basketball team returns to action Monday night when the Tigers travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders. JSU looks to earn its first win of the season at the United Spirit Arena. Tuesday's meetin will be the first between the two teams on the hard court.
The Tigers look to have a full strength Kelsey Howard in the back court to go along with Jeff Stubbs and Christian Williams. Howard, who is coming off an injury, played in his first game of the season on Nov. 21 against Tulsa. Howard, a preseason All-SWAC performer, led the team in scoring with a 25 point and nine rebound effort against the Golden Hurricane.
Three other Tigers are averaging double-digit scoring. Christian Williams is averaging 13 points, Jeff Stubbs is averaging 11 points and two assits while Willie Readus averages 10 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Texas Tech currently has five players scoring in double figures. Jaye Crockett averages a near double-double with 14.7 points and 9.3 rebounds. Dejan Kravic averages 12.7 points, Jordan Tolbert (12 ppg), Josh Gray (12 ppg) and Trency Jackson (11.5 ppg).
JSU allows 82 ppg while scoring 56.5 ppg. The Red Raiders score 90.3 ppg, while giving up 66 ppg.
