AUSTIN, Texas - The Jackson State women's basketball team put forth a strong effort, but was beaten 80-53 by the Texas Longhorns in women's basketball action Tuesday night.
With the loss JSU falls to a 0-3 record and Texas Improves to 3-0.
Beatrice Banks and Dominique Brothern each scored a team high eight points. Banks connected on 2 of 5 three-point shots and Brothern went 2 for 4 from behind the arch. Tiffany Kellum followed with seven points and a team high seven rebounds. She also recorded three blocked shots.
Five Longhorns scored in double figures. Nneka Enemkpali recorded a double-double. She led all scorers with 24 points and 20 rebounds. Chassidy Fussell followed with 16 points and Cokie Reed chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds. Imani McGee-Stafford also finished with a double-double as she recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds. Empress Davenport scored 10 points.
Jackson State will return to action Friday to participate in the Houston Baptist Classic.
