JACKSON – Brandon West’s tenth double-double of the season wasn’t enough, as the Jackson State University men’s basketball team fell 85-80 to Prairie View A&M University in double overtime Saturday at the Lee E. Williams Athletic & Assembly Center. West registered 18 points and grabbed eleven rebounds.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-12 overall and 1-4 in SWAC action.
Jackson State shot 42.9 percent from the field; while shooting 36.4 percent from behind the arch and 77.8 percent from the stripe for the game.
The game had 10 ties and 10 lead changes. JSU’s bench outscored Prairie View’s bench, 39-20.
Julysses Nobles added 17 points; while Derell Taylor registered 14 and six rebounds. Jeff Stubbs recorded 10 points to round out Jackson State’s double-figure scoring.
Louis Munks spearheaded the Panthers with 23 points; while Montrael Scott tallied 15; Tre Hagood registered 14; Demondre Chapman tallied 13; and Hershey Robinson added eleven points.
Jackson State trailed Prairie View A&M, 35-29 going into the half. Janarius Middleton led the Tigers at the half with eight points; while Chapman led the way for PVA&M with 10.
JSU shot 40.7 percent from the field, 12.5 percent from behind the arch, and 100 percent from the stripe in the first half.
The Tigers host Texas Southern University Monday at the Lee E. Williams AAC. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
