Menís Cross Country Placed 3rd in MC Choctaw Open

JACKSON- The Tigers of Jackson State University captured the third place win at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Tigers competed hard and some were able to achieve season and personal best for the 8K during the meet.

“I am very happy with the team’s performance,” said head coach Mark Thorne. “The guys executed the race as planned and put themselves in a very good position to finish strong.”

Tigers lead runner Samuel Rhoads was able to finish with in the top ten with a time of 27:21. He was followed by D’Ante Almo with a time of 28:18, Ibrahim Hind with 28:39, Jacques Williams with 28:46,Rahim Aponte with 29.19, Markus Jackson with 29:37, and James Curtis with 30.19.

The Tigers were out ran by Southeastern Louisiana University and Grambling University but were able to conquer Southern University, New Orleans University, Nicholls State University, and Alcorn State University.

The Tigers next meet will be the SWAC Championships on Monday, Oct. 28. The meet will start at 9 a.m. at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss.
