JACKSON- The Lady Tigers of Jackson State University soccer team defeats Alabama A&M 2-1.
In the first part of the game, the Lady Tigers struggled to find a rhythm. Taylor Emerson at goalie allowed one goal at 39:23. This goal was scored by Ester Martinez of Alabama A&M.
In the second half, the Lady Tigers really started being able to control the and Elexis Rice was able to score the first goal for JSU at the 54:57 mark. The winning goal of the game was scored by Raquel Araujo off a penalty kick at 80:31.
“We showed good character by coming from behind to win again,” said head coach Dean Joseph. “We are now in a position to control our own destiny on Sunday. Part 1 of 2 complete.”
The Lady Tigers will keep the game in Alabama when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take on the Lady Hornets of Alabama State on Sunday, Oct. 13. The game will be held at the ASU Soccer Complex and it will start at 1 p.m.
