JACKSON- The Jackson State University Men’s Cross Country Team placed second in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4. Mississippi Valley State University was able to grab first place with 34 points over the Tigers’ 35 points.
“We competed the best we could in the conditions,” said head coach Mark Thorne. “It was not a day to run personal best but just to run a race in tough conditions and compete well.”
Friday’s meet was ran in very hot and humid conditions but the Tigers gave it their all. Top runner for JSU was D’ante Almo who finished with a time of 28:54. He was followed by Sam Rhoads at 29:37, Jacques Williams at 30:00, Markus Jackson at 30:52, Ibrahim Hinds at 31:52, and Rahim Aponte at 33:30.
The Tigers next meet will be on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open. It will start at 8:30 a.m. in Clinton, Miss. at Choctaw Trails.
