JACKSON- The Lady Tigers of the Jackson State University cross country team placed second overall in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational Women's 6k on Friday, Oct. 4. Mississippi Valley State University was able to grab first place with 32 points and JSU landed second with 54 points.
"The ladies ran a smart and strong race," said head coach Pristina Jones. "We are continuosly closing in on Mississippi Valley and plan to keep pushing to a victory."
The top runner for the Lady Tigers was Krissle Nicome who finished at 26:10. She was followed by her teammates Sabrina Welch at 26:26, D'Andrea Eashmond at 26:55, K'Deidra Massey 33:45, and Majaica Brooks at 34:52.
The Lady Tigers' next competition will be on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open. The women's race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. in Clinton, Miss at Chcotaw Trails.
