JACKSON- Jackson State University women’s cross country team place second at the Martin Epps Invitational on Saturday. This was the first year that JSU has hosted the Martin Epps Invitational and Head Coach Pristina Jones was very happy with the turnout.
The women’s cross country team competed in a 5K run against 9 teams, five of which were SWAC schools. The Lady Tigers lost first place to conference foe Mississippi Valley State University who won with 58 points and an average time of 21.36. The Lady Tigers, at second place, had 69 points with an average time of 22.14.
The top runner for JSU was Krissle Nicome who place fourth with a time of 20.33. Other times for the Lady Tigers are Sabrina Welch at tenth place with 21.31, Tyler Watson at 15th place with 22.09, K’Deidra Massey at 22nd place with 23.22, D’Andrea Eashmond at 24th place with 23.36, Terisha Julius at 33rd place with 25.23, Tatiyana Blood at 38th place with 26.37, and Majaica Brooks at 43rd place with a time of 27.41. There was a total of 50 runners.
The next time that the Lady Tigers will compete is on Saturday, Sept. 21 in the Tiger Cross Country Festival at Louisiana State University. Start time is set for 8:00 am and will take place at Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge, La.
