JACKSON – After dominating the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes Friday night, the Jackson State softball team dropped both games of Saturday’s double-header at the JSU Softball Complex.
JSU fell 4-0 in the first game and 4-1 in the second. MVSU’s Alicia Lorenz pitched two complete games to earn two victories against the Lady Tigers.
In the opener, Jasmine Warren (8-5) pitched a complete game for the loss. In eight innings she gave up four runs on five hits and had two strikeouts. Lorenz pitched eight innings as she allowed six hits and recorded five strikeouts.
Offensively for the Lady Tigers, Warren, Felicia Wilson and Sabeana Romero each recorded two hits. Yasmine Battle led Valley with two hits and a run.
Breea Jamerson (15-19) suffered the loss in the nightcap. In seven innings of work she allowed four runs on seven hits. Lorenz pitched seven innings and gave up a run on six hits.
Tayler Nave scored JSU’s lone run on the day. Lauren Aikens went 2-3 at the plate. Nicole Burr led Valley, going 2-3 at the plate with a RBI.
JSU returns to action Tuesday, April 23 when the Lady Tigers host Louisiana-Monroe in non-conference action at the JSU SB Complex. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
