HOUSTON, Texas – The Jackson State softball team fell 3-2 in a tough, non-conference game to the University of Houston at Cougar SB Stadium Tuesday night.
With the loss JSU falls to a 22-23 record and Houston improves to 26-2.
Breea Jamerson (14-17) suffered the loss. In 6.2 innings of work she allowed three runs on seven hits and had four strikeouts. Diedre Outon (6-4) pitched seven innings for the win. She allowed two runs on seven hits.
Both teams scored in the fourth inning. Amanda Vasquez hit a solo home run to put the Lady Tigers on the scoreboard, for the early 1-0 lead. At the bottom of the inning, the Cougars scored two runs for the lead.
At the top of the seventh JSU tied the game at 2-2 when Tayler Nave scored an unearned run. Kayla Holland scored the game winning run on a Taylor Duplechain RBI single.
JSU returns to action Wednesday when the Lady Tigers take on Houston Baptist.
