GARLAND, Texas - The Jackson State men's basketball team's run in the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament came to an end Friday evening as the Tigers fell 88-75 to the Prarie View A&M Panthers at the Curtis Culwell Center.
PVAM's Jourdan DeMuynck scored a career-high 37 points to lift No. 4 seed Prairie View A&M to the victory over No. 2 seed Jackson State on Friday.
DeMuynck was 13-of-23 from the field, and scored 26 points in the second half. Montrael Scott scored 20 points and Carl Blair added 12 points and 10 assists for PVAMU.
The Panthers held a 34-33 halftime lead and pulled away with under five minutes remaining leading by double figures for the remainder of the contest. PVAMU will play the winner of the Southern University-Alabama A&M semifinal for the Southwestern Athletic Conference title and the automatic NCAA tournament bid on Saturday.
Christian Williams led Jackson State (11-18) with 27 points. Jeff Stubbs connected 4-of-7 three-point attempts scoring 16 points. Derrell Taylor followed with 10 points and Jonathan Lewis handed out seven assists for the Tigers.
